As another means of supporting myself, my wife, and various government entities, I also translate Japanese patents from Japanese to English. I do not go the other way, that is, from English to Japanese. The principle subjects that I work with are electronics, communications, computers, mechanical contraptions, optics, and electrical devices. I have also translated a few related to nuclear power, a safety manual for a freon plant, a manual on an assembly line for making disposable diapers, patents on paperless toilets, and I even did one on chewing gum that changes color when you chew it. I am more comfortable with those related to electronics, since this was my field of endeavor most of my 20 years in the U.S. Marines.
