Patterson Power Cell - A New Energy Source

List Members......below is a synopsis of an ABC News report from Good Morning America, this morning's edition (Wednesday, June 11, 1997) This report was forewarned by last night's guest on Art Bell's late night talk show, Eugene Mallove.

The Patterson Beads........Key to a revolutionary new Energy Source

The story on this potential new energy source was aired nearly a year ago on GMA. It's promise to revolutionize our way of life however, was tempered though in that it's methodology seemed to defy the current laws of physics.

Dr. James Patterson, 75 years old, and holder of more than 150 patents including one for a device called the Patterson Power Cell. Simple in design......it has two electrodes that you attach to an electrical current, while at the same time the inner portion of the cell is being flushed with salt water. Inside the cell at thousands of tiny beads, made from plastic and coated with layers of different kinds of metal.

Inside what used to be his private garage, is now a full fledged modern laboratory where work continues on this latest of his inventions. The Patterson Cell, he believes, will one day soon make the use of fossil fuels obsolete. According to Mr. Patterson, "We are getting nuclear energy output, without any radioactive byproducts from the use of this cell."

The device (as a hot water heater) is currently producing much more energy than it is consuming....in fact it is 50 percent more efficient than what consumers have in their homes today. It is currently planned for initial marketing in the next two to four years.

The biggest surprise though is, not only do the beads produce energy more efficiently than fossil fuels, but they actually neutralize radioactivity. This news has attracted big name scientists like Norm Olsen (Metallurgist) who works in Hanford, Oregon where the Government stores high level radioactive wastes.

Olsen believes that if after further testing under more controlled circumstances, the facts are born out with the Patterson beads, that we will be well on the way to solving the nuclear waste storage problem in the world. In a test run for the ABC report, using time lapse taping in a two hour period, a solution of uranium radioactive byproducts had it's halflife reduced by more than half during that short period.

Mr. Patterson's company has teamed up with the world's largest hot water heater manufacturer to market this new technology. It has the potential for being 1,000 times more efficient than present day heating products, but expect to have the commercial product producing at 120 times the efficiency in order to provide a very long life span per unit.

Last week, Patterson demonstrated the American Nuclear Society's annual conference where it was very well received. Companies like Motorola, Westinghouse, The Dept. Of Energy are all showing big time interest.

End of Synopsis.

My only comment on the above information would concern the reaction of Petroleum Companies to the target date for marketing of this new technology, planned for around the year 2000. How many impediments will be placed in the path of this clean, and cheap energy source? I wouldn't care to bet any amount, based upon past deliberate disruption of many previous developments in the energy field.
