Repairs to Taylorcraft air
frame are complete but recovering of front section
remains. New cowl is still on back order. For the most
part, repairs were effected by fitting broken parts back
together. The lower footwell windows were deleted to
increase mid plane strength. Gorilla glue was used for most of
the repairs and my impression is that it makes a good repair
glue. The old cowl is suitable to fly the plane so there is
really no hold up except my ambition and that I've been on the job site
full time during the last couple of projects and the grandkids have
been here a couple of days or more a week.
Been aquiring a few projects in consideration of upcoming
retirement.
No construction start on the Travel Air yet though I've now acquired
the wood, wheels, dummy motor, and visited the airplane for some
additional pictures and a flight. In fact I got the yoke for a
few minutes... it was a great thrill. The plane is eighty one
years old and in amazing condition.
