Head Port

Several C250 owners have had the plastic hinges fail on the port light.  It is a real pain to replace the port as its bedded with 5200.

My problem was that the boat was shipped with the screen in a galley drawer.  When commissioning, I installed the screen in the port not realizing that there is a filler piece in the port that adjust the weather stripping to seal if the screen is not used.  Adding the screen without removing the filler piece stresses the hinges and they fail.

The fix, get a new port and using a very thin flexible small putty knife or a guitar string is said to work... cut the 5200 sealant and remove the port.  Mask off the window prior to work and leave the masking on until after the new port is bedded in.
