Holding Tank

My holding tank is a 13 gal Todd tank and is mounted aft and close to the wet locker aft bulkhead.

A backlight above the tank when turned on readily shows the tank level.

The tank is locked in place by chocks front to back and wedged sideways between the hull and footwell liner.

The shelf and support leg were scribed and cut to conform to the hull curvature.

Unfortunatly the C250 doesn't provide a tank location that will drain to the bilge if a leak occurs.  The stock location is in the aft compartment.

The tank ports can be on either end.  Mine is on the forward end because I use a macerator pump at times to discharge into a clean out beside my drive way and need to throw a valve to do that.  Aft would be better for most installations that don't include a macerator pump.

In the drawing below, I've provided the dimensions for the tank supporting structure and routing for the lines.

Interesting, I tested the tank to see if it met the advertised volumn considering the inlet and outlet ports kill some area within the tank and was surprized that the capacity was exactly the advertised 13 gallons.  I've peaked the performance a little however because my tank sits lower on the end opposite to the ports.  By doing a little lathe work and using a  1.25" pvc tube glued into the 1.5" inch fitting, it extends to the aft of the tank and is plugged on the end with a port facing down.  All this effort to gain a gallon or so of the extra capacity within the tank, but who knows when it will be needed badly :) .
