Repairs to the
Ultra Stick Lite 120
The Stick wing suffered
considerable damage when it roosted in the top
of a large Oak tree. The fuselage suffered only moderate
damage. No wing kit was available and normally a wing completely
sheered is totaled, especially one having four spars and suffering
more than one bay completely wiped out including leading and trailing
edge.
When discovering the kit had
been discontinued, I resigned that my
favorite plane had to be rebuilt and the how to was studied with a
final determination that doing so would require fitting temporary
hardwood rails outside of and across the missing spar sections.
The following pics document how that was done. The fuselage
having only suffered the landing gear mounting ripped out and the
forward wing saddle bulkhead damaged was fairly moderate and is not
documented.
