The BCHBA, affiliated with the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) texasbuilders.org and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) nahb.org, is a voluntary organization striving to build positive and responsible growth in the home building industry. We provide the opportunity for our members to display their products and services and invite the public to examine them. This association makes no guarantee, expressed or implied, regarding their products and services and all visitors to this site are encouraged to conduct their own background investigations. During the 78th Legislative Session, lawmakers created the Texas Residential Construction Commission (the "Commission"). As of January 1, 2004, all home builders in the State of Texas are REQUIRED to register new homes, material improvements to existing homes, and certain interior renovations exceeding $20,000.00 with the Commission. NEW: HB 1038 recently signed by Governor Perry will make a number of changes to the Texas Residential Commission (TRCC) starting September 1, 2007. State law requires that a person hold a Certificate of Registration from TRCC if the person contracts to construct a new home or a material improvement to an existing home or certain improvements to the interior of an existing home with total cost of improvement(s) being reduced from $20,000.00 to $10,000.00 (including labor and materials). Before signing any contracts, the BCHBA encourages you to contact TRCC (trcc.state.tx.us) and make sure your contractor is registered and to learn about ALL of the changes to take effect by HB 1038. Mailing address is PO Box 13144, Austin, Texas 78711 (512)463-1040. Make sure your contractor is in compliance with Texas law and can show you his TRCC Certificate of Registration!
