PERSONAL AND NEWS NOTES.
After Thirty Five Years.
On his retreat from Boone's Mil[l] in 1863 Col. Spears with his regiment of cavalry took some mules
and other perso[n]al property from Dorsey S. Deloatch, and burned hi[s] mill
at Creeksville, now own[e]d by Hicks & Lassiter.
A claim has been pending before Congress [for] years for the amount of proper[ty]
us[e]d and destroyed by [the] Uni[o]n soldiers at that time.
After 35 years the Congress that adjourned las[t] Saturday appropriated
$308 to pay the claim for the personal property. The h[eir]s expect
t[o] recover for the real estate (mill house) burned at the [s]ame [time.]
