Overview
Old News:
Since 1994 I have been publishing items of genealogical interest, ranging from verbatim transcriptions, abstracts, historical reprints, and finally family history compilations. I have compiled books and a CD-ROM of material which pertains to the Roanoke-Chowan region of North Carolina. The counties of Perquimans, N.C. and Nansemond Co., Va. are represented in my compilation on the EURE family.
The bulk of my research has been devoted to Hertford County. In August 1830 and again in February 1862, the courthouse at Winton, was burned; the first time by a suspected note forger turned arsonist, the last time by Union troops --more arsonists. The resulting dearth of records poses many obstacles to genealogical researchers. I have made several transcriptions of the minutes of its county court of pleas and quarter sessions, and many of its census enumerations, as well as a transcription of some of its records of estate. Hertford's eastern & western neighbors, Gates County and Northampton, respectively, were both fortunate in that neither have had a major loss of records. Marriage books have been compiled from the records of both of these counties, and for the former a turn of the century census has been transcribed. Of the historical reprints that I have compiled, they either are of published works such as a county history of Hertford written in 1877-8 and one of Northampton written in 1897; a collection of biographies of well known North Carolinians composed in the 1890's; a compilation of family sketches made about 90 years ago; a collection of works pertaining to the "Hertford Grays" (Co. F, 1st Reg. N.C.S.T., C.S.A.). Of previously unpublished material there is an indexed typescript of a federal era diary. After several years of research, I compiled my first book of family history in 2000 -that of the EURE family. Also, A database of obituaries for persons with ties to the Roanoke-Chowan region is available on CD-ROM which is viewed by using your web browser.

General Info:
During the years of 1994 through 1997 I operated this business in Greenville, N.C. I moved back to northeastern North-Carolina at the end of 1997 and since then have had the above Winton address. The post office would only forward my mail for one year so anyone who unsuccessfully tried ordering from the Greenville address after 1998, please use my Winton address.
[Printers:]
The Canon BJ-200e bubble jet printer that I have been using since 1994 has played out. All books have been converted to my new HP deskjet 6122 printer. This conversion was done in such a way as to secure the validity of the indexes of the books, or to rectify errors introduced by an earlier conversion from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95.
[Paper:]
Books printed in-house from Nov. 1995 to mid-Feb. 2008 have been printed on Hammermill CopyPlus [20 lb., 84 Brightness] Acid-Free Paper. In mid-February 2008 20 lb., 92 brightness Copyplus paper was substituted for in-house printing. This is exclusive of books printed out-of-house by Speedyblue Repographics, which at one time included my "Late Nineteenth Gates County Marriages," and presently includes any books which I sell authored by Sandra L. Almasy.
The covers from 1994 through 2005 were on 65 lb premium card stock. Generally, they have been printed on Wausau Astrobrights "lunar blue" colored paper. However, at one time a competitors' more lighter greenish-blue colored card stock was substituted because my supplier was out of "lunar blue." Since early 2006 the covers have been printed on "Blue" colored, 67 lb., HammerMill --Bristol-- Cover Stock. This paper is of a much lighter color of blue than the former which is of a bluish-green color.
