I Samuel Simmons of the County and State aforesaid, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty
of my earthly existance, do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form, following, "to wit:"
First- That my executor, (herein-after named) shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my friends,
and procure unexpensive stones to mark my last resting place, and pay all funeral expenses together with all my just debts,
however or to whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
Item 1st It is my desire that my personal representative, shall expose to public sale the whole of my personal property,
(except such as is otherwise, disdosed of in this my Will) and retain the proceeds thereof in his hands as part of my estate.
Item 2nd I give and bequeath to Bethlehem church the sum of $2500/100
Item, 3rd I give and bequeath to Rev. Mr. Curtis the sum of $2500/100
Item, 4th I give and bequeath to JOs. W. Sluaghter the sum of $1500/100
Item, 5th I give and bequeath to Dr. R. P. Thomas the sum of $1000/100
Item, 6th I give and bequeath to A. B. Adkins the sum of $500/100
Item, 7th I give and bequeath to Jos. Wiggins the sum of $500/100
Item, 8th I give and bequeath to W. P. Britton the sum of $500/100
Item, 9th I give and bequeath to Mary Mitchell the sum of $1000/100
Item, 10th I give and bequeath to Stephen Archer the sum of one dollar
Item, 11th I give and bequeath to T_os_a Simmons the sum of $5.00
Item, 12th I give and bequeath to Margianah Simmons the sum of $5.00
Item, 13th I give and bequeath to Armesia Flood one bedstead and bed furnishes, her choice of two,
the three best of my beds and bedsteads I wish to be sold and retained as part of my estate.
Item, 14th I give and bequeath to Cherry Simmons all of my wearing apparel of whatsoever kind.
Item, 15th I give and bequeath to Mrs. Mary Slaughter my cookstove.
Item, 16th I give and bequeath to Charlie Bazemore the sum of $5.00
Item, 17th After all the foregoing bequests are paid out of the proceeds of sale of my personal property;
all the residue if any, I give and bequeath to JOhn O. Askew together with all my real estate of whatsoever kind,
to have and to hold unto him the said John O. Askew and his heirs in fee simple forever.
And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend, John O. Askew my laughful executor to all intents
and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the same.
In witness whereof, I the said Samuel Simmons, do hereunto set my hand and seal, this 3rd day of July 1894.
