This is Billy's Brag Page

I was born in 1942, raised in Camp Hill, AL and joined the USAF in 1960. I worked in the B-52 Training Devices Section (Aircraft Simulators). Secondary job was with the Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR)Team. I have been stationed at Lackland AFB, Lowery AFB, Dyess AFB, Biggs AFB, Glasgow AFB, Castle AFB, and Barksdale AFB. I learned to fly after arriving at Barksdale, where I got my Private at the BAFB Aero Club. I then got my Commercial, Multi-engine, all flight and ground instructor ratings at Greater Shreveport Air Service. I got all of these in one year. I got my Seaplane Ratings at Jack Browns in Winter Haven, Fl. I bought my Cessna 172, (Little Bird) in 1979 and sold it in 1984. I was to busy flying other peoples planes to fly it anymore.

I retired from the USAF on 12-31-1980 and became the Chief Pilot at Greater Shreveport Air Service (GSAS), the Cessna Dealer in Shreveport until 1985. I was also a FFA Designated Pilot Examiner for all Ratings, Single and MultiEgine, CFIIA just about everything but ATP. I started flying as a contract pilot in 1985, and flew King Airs, Cessna 310's, 303's, 414's, Turbo 210, and Merlins plus several other makes and models. I have several thousand hours of total flying time in all kinds of weather and types of aircraft.

I quit flying in 1988 (Blood Pressure was getting high) and started Northwestern State University school of Nursing. I worked on the surgery floor at LSUMC in Shreveport, LA until I was placed on the heart transplant waiting list in the fall of 1994.

I raced NASCAR Stockcars at Merced Speedway while stationed at Castle AFB. The last year that I raced I finished 13th in points.

I have a super great daughter, Beth, (by first wife) and a wonderful granddaughter, Deserea. They are two of the greatest things that have ever happened to me. Beth is an RN, my son-law, Alvin is a photographer (hobby is woodworking) and Deserea, Born 1986, she played tennis for about 7 years and is a super softball player and has been on the A or A-B honor roll since starting kindagarden.

Pat (Patricia Mobley Eaton) and I attended Camp Hill High School, (CHHS) in the same class (class of 60), from the first grade to graduation in 1960. We had lost track of each other until 1989. In 1989 I found out she was in Montgomery. After that I would stop in Montgomery and we would go out about once a year when I was in Alabama visting my family. In Feburary 1995 while I was in Camp Hill I had my 2nd Heart attack, they placed a stent in it. Pat drove from Montgomery everynight and stayed till visting hours were over. She drove me back to Bossier City when I got out of East Alabama Medical Center. Things developed and in April I went back to Camp Hill and asked her to marry me (behind CHHS)...she said yes. We got married on July 2, 1995, Bobby Ned Duck married us. He also attended CHHS. We had each been living single for over 15 years. Missy came with Pat and has taken over the house.

I have had two heart attacks and have been on the Heart Waiting List at Willis-Knighton Hospital since October 1994.

PILOT'S PSALM

The Lord is my Pilot; I shall not crash.

He maketh me to fly in clear skies; He leadeth me down to smooth landings; He keepeth my chart.

He guideth me through the pathless ways of the skies for His Name's sake.

Yea, though I fly through the storms and tempests of life, I shall fear no danger; for Thou art near me; Thy love and Thy care, they protect me.

Thou preparest an airport before me in the homeland of eternity; Thou emblazoneth the skies with Thy beauty; My plane flies gracefully.

Surely sunlight and starlight shall favor me on the flight I take, and I shall abide in the presence of my God Forever.

(the above was extracted from the Martinsburg, West Virginia, JOURNAL in memory of a flight officer who was killed in North Pickingham, Norfolk, England, in January 1945.)
