Year Books

I am working on getting some year books and posting them to Facebook. It might take some time getting my hands on a few of them, but I'll get them up just as soon as I can. I have been to both, Fairview Alpha Elementary and Lakeview High Schools and they do not have any year books left over to sell. Lakeview however has three year books in there library a 1982, 1985 and a 1988. So if you have any year books from Campti High School they are the last of its kind. It is my soul purpose of this web site to try and save as many year books as possible so there not lost forever. If you have any year book's that I have not already posted please contact me so we can keep our Schools History alive. Camptihigh@yahoo.com

History

The first public school in Campti was founded in 1851 by Professor Edward Barnard of Ohio, as a small one room school (built on the site of the Robert Lestage house which was standing in 1940). As the enrollment increased another room was added. Soon enrollment had increased to the point that a two and half story frame building was built. In 1907 this school was approved as a high school by the Louisiana State Department of Education. In 1922, the last school in the city limits of Campti was built on the site of the old two story building, as it served as the Campti School until it was consolidated with several other schools to form Lakeview in 1992.
