Reunion

Hey Tom!

Tom Stewart is that you?

Let me have a look at you.

Come and pull you up a chair.

Can't believe it's twenty years

But man don't you look great!

Well, just a little overweight,

I always did.

Now the drinks are all on me,

so let's sit and talk awhile.

Tell me all about yourself.

How are things in our hometown?

How did we lose touch?

Guess you can put the blame on me

I know I left so suddenly

Always meant to get back around

But I never did.

I wonder how things might have been

If I had stayed in town

If I had hung around

Well maybe...

I heard it from old Larry

That you finally married Rose

Still with her? Man that's great!

And so rare these days you know

Me? No I never married.

Never really got that close

I guess it's not my style

But I'm happy I suppose

At least for now

So you've got yourself a son

Guess he'd be college age by now

You say he's Dean's list every term

That must make you very proud

Sometimes I get to thinking

How nice it would surely be

To have a family

Just to tell them that you love them

Right out loud.

I wonder how things might have been

If I had stayed in town

If I had hung around

If I had done what I needed to do

Well maybe...

And what's Rose up to these days

Still painting I would hope

She had a talent that's for sure

Everyone but her could see.

Well I hope she's doing well

And you give her all my best

And that son of yours as well

Though he doesn't even know me

Never will

I wonder how things might have been

If I had stayed in town

If I had hung around

If I had done what I needed to do

Well maybe...

Maybe I could have been you.
