PBIS Poster Contest Winners Celebrate with Party
October 2010

On Friday October 1, 2010, Principal Margaret A. Brown held a Punch Social for students and their parents to celebrate the end of the annual PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) poster contest. The contest ran from September 1st through September 24th. The poster contest was the idea of Mr. Willie Anderson, the school’s PBIS Coordinator. The posters, containing themes expressing the school expectations, will be used to decorate various areas of the school.

This year the theme for the posters was Respect, Responsibility, and Cooperation. Students were encouraged to submit a poster either as an individual project or as a class project. At the end of two weeks, Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Brown invited a panel of experts in to judge the posters in the various categories. The results of the judging were announced Friday morning and the students who were winners were invited to the Punch Social to receive awards from Mrs. Brown.

Awards were presented to the following students; !st Place Amber Thomas (Transition Program), 2nd Place Whitney Hogan (Transition Program), 3rd Place Ashley Wheaton (Transition Program), 3rd Place Mrs. Thrash’s 8th Grade class, 4th Place Tiffany Carter (7th grade), 4th Place TAPSIS Class, and 5th Place TAPSIS Class.

All of the posters were displayed for visitors to appreciate and a fine visit was enjoyed by all. We look forward to next year’s poster contest.
