Elementary Students Participate in "Read for the Record"
October 2010

People in big cities, small towns, and everywhere in between participated in Jumpstart's Read for the Record on October 7. From grassroots events in small towns, to major events in Jumpstart's regions, to reading with the likes of Bill Cosby and Pattie Labelle on NBC's TODAY Show, Jumpstart's fifth annual Read for the Record was a huge success!

ARCDC's 4th and 5th grade class participated by reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. We read the book, made snowflakes, and enjoyed snowball cookies and juice.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, presented in partnership with Pearson, is Jumpstart’s world record breaking campaign that brings children and adults together to read the same book, on the same day, in homes and communities all over the world. The campaign also kicks off Jumpstart’s yearlong program, preparing preschool children in low-income neighborhoods for success in school and life.
