How Far Off

Ever wonder what your chances of winning the Powerball Lottery are...

Imagine a single Lincoln penny representing your choice of numbers plus
the powerball. Given all the possible combinations and powerball, where
the pennies are stacked one on top of the other... Just how close would
your penny representing your lottery selection would be to the winning set
of numbers/penny? This page will calculate that for you in relative miles.

Yes, that is relative miles.

Two calculation approaches used here:

Weighted Delta: Is based on a weighted chance within succeeding samples
of delta averages on the likelyhood the entered combination could fall within
relative position of the stack.

Combination Loop: Is based on a nested for-loop for each possibility, starting
left-to-right, and marking the iteration when all 5-number match for both choosen
and drawn numbers. The iteration is then multipled by the corresponding powerball
selection, and distance calculated on the delta.

NOTE: YOUR BROWSE WILL ASK YOU TO ABORT THE SCRIPT, ANSWER 'NO',
IT WILL ONLY TAKE A FEW SECONDS.

Enter your lottery numbers ( 1 to 55 )
            Powerball  ( 1 to 42)
Enter the winning lottery numbers
            Powerball

Out of a stack of pennies miles high or miles long,
representing a chance to win the big money, there are combinations.

The penny respresenting your numbers, was miles(s)
away from the winning lottery penny.
