1999 NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES

Cycling events for the DisneyWorld National Senior Games were held at Clermont Florida and consisted of two time trials (5K, 10K) and two road races (20K, 40K) on 10/26 - 10/27. I competed in all 4 events but won none. I did, however, place higher than I expected considering the tough competition. Medalists results are shown below along with my results.

There were over 12,000 seniors competing at the 1999 National Senior Games. In cycling competition there were approximately 400 men and women competing in each race. Age groups were 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84 and 85-89. One 81-year old lady whom I spoke to had competed in every Senior National competition since the beginning.

(Led the race for several miles. Actually thought I had won as I sprinted past 4 cyclists at the finish until I learned that a group of 5 fast riders had broke away from the pack earlier)
