OLD PHOTOS OF THE TOWN OF RIVER BEND NC

I created this page partly from old photos received from town hall many years ago for River Bend's first web page which Councilman Jim Findley asked me to create. If you have any old interesting photos of River Bend I will be glad to add a few of them by scanning and returning them to you (not a shoebox full). Add a description on the back of each photo and place them in an envelope with your name, address and phone number on it. Drop it off on my porch at 110 Portside. No need to ring bell.

In September of 1967 Frank Efird began construction on the 12,000 acre site known as River Bend Plantation. The first phase included 636 homes on the Trent River and on the River Bend Golf Course. The next phase involved a lengthy dredging project which formed a channel linking inland lots with the river. Circling the channel's end is an area called Harbour Town including condominiums, shopping, tennis and recreation areas. Here are the beginnings of the planned development which became a town in 1980.
