WHERE HAS THE WILDLIFE GONE IN RIVER BEND?

We moved to River Bend from Maryland in 1993 and have seen a continual reduction in wildlife that we used to see regularly. Here are a few photos from past years.

Haven't seen a gray fox in a long time. We think they may be the reason  ducks disappeared

Deer napping in our backyard. Used to eat our apples

Ducks running to me when I come out. Note big green headed duck - very friendly

Favorite meal is corn. Green headed duck is reportedly "Son of Sam" who used to live at Town Hall lake  Feeding my favorite hybrid Mallard duck called Blondie. Very tame - prefers had feeding Brother George from Miami
Blondie and one-eyed boyfriend love corn in water Mama usually has a dozen ducklings but ends up with 2. Red-tail Hawk scoops them up Ducklings love their first swim in our pan
Mama  takes ducklings for an escorted trip  Coots arrived and like bread tossed Pelican landed next door
Hand feeding Herring Gulls. See old Oar House in distance Granddaughter Rachel caught a Longnose Gar. The biggest caught years ago was 42 inches. Bream are easy to catch
I don't allow Canada Geese in yard because of the big mess they make Feeding turtles bread Long harmless snake on deck but I found a water moccasin once
Red-tail Hawk scooping up a squirrel Cooper Hawk looking in kitchen window Wren nest in my tool box

Other wildlife we no longer or rarely see:

Cormorants, Kingfishers, Beavers (destroyed our nice pear tree), Cranes, Raccoons, Possums, Rabbits, Muskrats

Also Spanish moss has completely disappeared and honey bees are gone.

But boy, do we have squirrels, squirrels and more squirrels! River Bend is overrun with them and they are destroying property. We've had them in our wall twice and in soffit several times.
