Mr. Hedberg's 2011-12 PCA Social Studies Webpage
About the Teacher
This is my seventh year at PCA and my seventh year as a teacher. I worked in the business world for many years before becoming an educator. I started my career as a sales trainee with a regional shoe wholesale company, eventually becoming Vice President of Merchandising for the firm. Next, I owned and operated two shoe stores, one in Lufkin, Texas and the other in Victoria, Texas. After closing the stores, I spent a number of years as an outside salesman working in a variety of industries.
I earned an Associate of Arts degree from Tarrant County College in Ft. Worth, Texas and a Bachelor of Journalism degree from The University of Texas at Austin. I completed my teacher training at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. I hold Texas Standard Classroom Teacher Certifications in 4-8 Social Studies and 8-12 Social Studies. Over the past six years I have taught 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade social studies. I am a life-long learner and an avid reader. I have completed 38 hours of graduate level course work and earned more than 200 hours of continuing professional education credit.
