Course Descriptions:
Seventh grade students study the history of Texas from early times to present. This course allows students to take a closer look at a particular segment of history and gives them a different perspective than other social studies courses. Students will examine the full scope of Texas history, including the cultures of Native Americans, colonization, revolution, republic, and statehood. Course instruction is based on the TEKS which include the following concepts as they relate to Texas History: geography, economics, government, citizenship, culture, science, technology, and society.
Eighth grade students study the major events in American history to 1877, including discovery, settlement, Revolution, early republic, Civil War and Reconstruction. Students will meet a variety of individuals who contributed to the events and movements which shaped the United States. They will also wrestle with the ideas of these individuals, in an attempt to understand the perspectives and experiences which helped make America. Course instruction is based on the TEKS which include the following concepts as they relate to U.S. History: geography, economics, government, citizenship, culture, science, technology, and society.
ECH World Geography students study the world and its people, places, and environments, where they are and how they relate to one another. Students will learn about the earth's physical environment and how it affects human life, such as its impact on where people live. Students will also learn about types of human activity: political, economic, and social and how they shape cultural patterns and affect the environment. Overall, we will examine the world from a geographic perspective using problem-solving skills and such concepts as location, movement, and region to ask and answer geographic questions. Course instruction is based on the TEKS which include the following concepts as they relate to World Geography: geography, economics, government, citizenship, culture, science, technology, and society.
