2005              Awarded a travel grant by the Appalachian College Association to present at the Council for Exceptional Children’s International Conference in Baltimore, MD.

2005              Won first place in the Children’s Writing Division in the West Virginia Writer’s Competition (Competition was open to people from other states and countries and was judged by an editor outside WV. Over 50 manuscripts were submitted in this category.)
