Grasshopper
==========================
Grasshopper

A grasshopper posed
In the hot midday.
A camera poised —
Don't fly away.

Two creatures paused —
Both part of nature.
No words exchanged
A moment to capture.

Who's anvil forged its fortified frame?
What hammer pounded each plates' pattern?
Who's nomenclature gave it a compound name?
Why should these juxtaposed attributes matter?

The camera observes, the focus aligns —
Observation alone matters here.
Who's loom wove its fretwork designs?
Does it ask "from whence?" or "to where?"

Armored exoskeleton
Fit for its world.
Hinged legs its violin
Springs upward — wings unfurl.

Perched again on a grass blade
Too hot to sing
So wondrously made.
What will night bring?

Bumblebee

=====================================

Bumblebee & Katydid

Bumblebee busy collecting nectar
Bright colors and odors summon its work.
The cunnungly camouflaged Katydid
Remains quite still, its shrill trill fills the park.

Photos taken in Berry Springs Park on a hot Sunday afternoon in July.  Melinda asked me to take a picture of this wildflower so we could identify it later.  While I was focusing  and framing a bumblebee alit on it, so  I was able to capture it, too.  Later while processing the photo in Photoshop I noticed a nearby Katydid was taking ir all in unknown to me at the time.
