After graduation, I attended the University of Oklahoma School Of Nursing
where I met a medical student who became my husband, Robert Allred. As our
three children were growing up, I returned to school and became a CPA. We
have two sons and a daughter and are very proud of them; however, their most
outstanding accomplishments are our seven wonderful grandchildren.

After living in the Dallas area for many years, Robert and I moved to central
Texas where we live in Harker Heights. Sixteen years ago, the plan was to slow
down a bit. We love living here, but have also decided we love being busy. I
work less career wise, but became active in politics, church and community
activities, such as reading with challenged children in underprivileged schools.

Seven years ago, I had a massive heart attack and was forced to spend some
time smelling the roses. During that time, I became involved in an organization
called WomenHeart, The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.
Currently, I serve as President of the Board of Directors and speak often about
heart disease in women, both locally and around the USA. I have been found on
Capitol Hill numerous times testifying on heart disease in women, advocating
for better research, and passage of The Heart for Women Act.

Robert and I will be married 48 years in November. Life is good and God has
blessed us in so many ways.
