Jerry & Nancy Hixon |
I worked at the Cushing Daily Citizen for a couple years after graduation, first in the print shop, then as circulation manager. It was a great deal of fun trying to manage 32 teens and pre-teens. My oldest son, Mike, came along in 1961. I went then to Hughes Lumber in Cushing and lived in three cities with them. First day was May 20, 1963. Last day was May 20, 1983. My second son, Robbie, came along in 1975. I moved from Hughes Lumber to Mill Creek Lumber in Tulsa where I became vice-president of operations and retired from there in July 2005, due to the "next generation" stigma. So, I have two sons, one daughter (adopted), 5 grandchildren and two great grands. With my job at Mill Creek and a good relationship with the owner, we got to travel extensively. I have been to 50 states plus Mexico, Canada, Majorca, Algiers, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany and got to ride the Orient Express from Lucerne, Switzerland to Lake Como, Italy. I am married, 30 years this time and we built a retirement home, lakeside on Hudson Lake near Pryor OK. More than I intended to say. Jerry Hixon |
