I completed high school, then received my teaching degree from Oklahoma State and
immediately started my teaching career. My first marriage ended in divorce in 1971. I
then married an old friend, Dickie Haxel who had graduated from Oklahoma University,
returned from Vietnam and had also undergone a divorce.

We moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, I continued to teach and he undertook his career in the
garment industry as manager of the Hagar Company. We chased the garment industry
to Mexico, Missouri, Texas, and back to Missouri as it continued to move off shore.
Through all our many moves I was fortunate to have been hired as a teacher everywhere
we moved and taught grades kindergarten through eighth. Dickie's daughter, Dana,
came to live with us at age 13. Our daughter, Holly was born in 1976 when we lived on the
Lake of the Ozarks the first time. Phillip, our son was born in 1982 in Amarillo, TX while
we had our own clothing factory in Hereford, Texas.

Dana now lives in Portland, OR with her husband and our only two grandchildren. Holly
and her husband live outside Prairie Home, MO on 16 beautiful acres. Holly is an
occupational therapist and her husband is a teacher. Phillip and his wife live in St. Louis
where he is account manager for ABF trucking and she is an event coordinator with
Enterprise car rentals. All three children were raised in Moberly, MO, while Dickie was
manager for Dura Automotive, Orscheln Industries, and then Carrollton Specialty
Products making Hallmark cards.

I retired after 40 years of teaching and when Hallmark went to China, Dickie and I moved
to our home on the Lake of the Ozarks where we currently live. We like it here because it is
not only beautiful, but we can always count on the kids coming to see us. We have a boat,
dock, and a hoist in our back yard and fishing all year.

I have loved reading all the biographies from all my classmates and just can't wait for the
reunion in May. Thank you so much to everyone that is making this all possible.
