FHFC BEACON ARTICLE FOR JUNE 2007

Some 60 members and guests were informed and thoroughly entertained by Captain Jerry Dilsaver at our May 2nd meeting of the Fairfield Harbour Fishing Club. Jerry, who is the Special Events Coordinator for the North Carolina Sportsman magazine, spoke about the various angling techniques that he has used over the years for catching Spanish Mackerel, Cobia and King Mackerel. Jerry lives in Oak Island North Carolina and is a very successful tournament fisherman and regular contributor to the magazine he works for. Jerry brought enough copies of April’s issue for everyone. He also donated a Star live bait fishing pole for our 50-50 raffle. As is his nature, Jerry again was the last to leave for home making sure nobody had a query that would go unanswered.

Jerry Manfredi reported that he had several boats signed up for our August 25th Red Drum tournament out of Whittaker Point Marina. If you want to participate in this event contact Jerry, who will provide all interested parties with a complete set of the rules and guidelines for this tournament where we go head to head with the Eastern Carolina Fishing Club. Final arrangements are being made for our Big Brother Big Sister tournament which will be held on Saturday, June 9, here in the Harbour. It was agreed by unanimous vote to move our July meeting from Wednesday night, July 4th to Thursday night, July 5th. We will meet at 7:00 pm in the Community Center. Please  remember that we will also be meeting on the first Thursday of the month in August as well.  Note these changes on your calendars.

Our meetings are always open to anyone who wants to see what we’re up to, and should you want to join our organization our dues are $10 annually. Be sure to visit us on our web site at //pages.suddenlink.net/fhfc/ Lee Sterling won the 50-50 raffle for the second time in three months. “Cap’t  Ron” MacLean won the fishing pole, donated by Jerry Dilsaver.
