Fishing Club

The October meeting of the Fishing Club was the annual picnic at Red Sail Park and was again a huge success. The Bridgeton Butcher provided the main course of burgers and Italian sausages with all the fixings, baked beans, cole slaw and ice tea. Hors d’oeuvres and desserts were provided by members and spouses for the 117 who attended. The club provided all the other beverages. The highlight was the auction that followed the meal and rose over $1300 for our 2010 BBBS Take-a-Kid Fishing Day. Thanks to the donors who provided fishing equipment and related items that were auctioned by Elmer Stenzel. Thanks also to the following people who donated items: Dee Kessinger, Pat Trott, Warner King, Jim Scharbrough, Bob Prather, Dan Thallman, Elmer Stenzel, Stan Liutkus and Connie Senchek. A well deserved thank you goes to Wayne Massetti who once again did most of the planning, organizing and setting up for this event.
The November 4 meeting is in the Community Center and is open to all angling enthusiasts who want to learn about fishing local waters. Membership is $10 and those joining in the fourth quarter are paid in full for 2010. The speaker, a representative of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, will talk about minimum lengths and creel limits of inland water species that differ from the coastal water regulations. There have been recent rule changes that can be confusing if not thoroughly understood, i.e. ttounder and striped bass.
If you are interested in joining the May Ocracoke trip, contact Jim Pettigrew who is coordinating this social and fishing extravaganza. There are still rooms and fishing space on many of the boats available.
Wayne Smith and Jerry, a cook from the Bridgeton Butcher, shared the 50-50 raffle. Check out upcoming events on the website, //pages.suddenlink.net/ttfc/

The annual Fishing Club picnic and auction at Red Sail attracted 117 members and guests. Over $1300 was raised for the Big Brother Big Sister Take-a-Kid Fishing Day in 2010

In September, Henry Hudak, Gus Villanova and Bob Bruggeworth (not pictured) caught these fish 35 miles outside Beaufort Inlet. Over 50 fish were caught.
