Eleanor Rhea 1797 - 1865

Eleanor Rhea, 5th child of Joseph Rhea Jr. and Frances Breden, was born on 4-7-1797 d.7-5-1865 m. on 11-05-1818 Edward Breden ANDERSON b.7-27-1794 d.10-12-1862. Edward was the son of George Anderson and Mary Breden. Eleanor Rhea and Edward Anderson had 7 children:

  1. Joseph Rhea Anderson b.2-4-1821 in Sullivan Co., TN d.1849 in Big Pine California.
  2. William Rhea Anderson b.2-15-1821 d.7-23-1902 m. on 10-17-1844 Louisa Smith b.5-24-1823 d.1-1-1890. Both buried in Blountville Cemetery.
  3. Audley Rhea Anderson b.1-21-1826 d.2-1-1864 m. Margaret Preston Rhea b.11-15-1832 d.xxxx dau. of Robert Rhea and Elizabeth Scott. Audley was born in Blountville, TN at Hatterdale Farm. His land was inherited by his mother, Eleanor Rhea Anderson. In 1847 the call came for volunteers for the Mexican War. He was among the number of Shaver's Co. D, Col. George R. McClellen's Regiment and Twigg's Brigade. He was discharged in the summer of 1848 and returned home to work on his father's farm until he married his cousin Margaret P. Rhea. After the marriage, Audley and Margaret lived on Island Road in the home of his father-in-law who was dead. Audley added to the farm 11.5 acres from Robert Keys for which he paid $86.50 on 1-25-1860. He was a farmer and raised stock. Volunteers were called from eastern TN to go to the Civil War. He was in Capt. McClellan's 4th Tennessee Calvary Co. B in CSA. He was wounded at Chattanooga and again in the battle of Chicamauga. In this last battle he had been hit seven times and was brought home to Island Road. He died Feb. 1, 1864. Audley and Margaret P. Rhea had 4 children:

    4. Joseph Audley Anderson b.6-13-1861 d.3-10-1937. Born in Sullivan Co., died in Scott Co., VA. Joseph m. in 1886 Elizabeth Jane Smith b.6-29-1860 d.10-1928, dau. of Jacob Smith and Jane Rhea. Both are buried in the Anderson Family Cemetery in Scott Co., VA. Joseph and Elizabeth had 5 children:
      1. Allie Fields Anderson b.12-1886 d.10-1972.
      2. Robert Audley Anderson b.6-1890 d.1918 in Camp Chase Ohio. Buried in Anderson Family Cemetery, Scott Co., VA.
      3. Ola Dell Anderson b.4-1893 in Scott Co., VA. buried in Weaver Cemetery, Bristol, TN.
      4. Margaret Virginia Anderson b.9-1895 m. James Edgar Taylor 1893-1963, son of John Taylor and Louvenia Baker. Both Margaret and James are buried in the Anderson Family Cemetery. They had 1 child:
        • Robert Emory Taylor 1919-1980 m. Hazel Wilson. Both buried in Anderson Family Cemetery.
      5. Rhea Anderson b.6-14-1898 d.2-17-1973 m. on 12-23-1925 Elsie Roberta Baker b.11-8-1908 d.1-26-1994, dau. of Norman Baker and Barsha Booher. Both buried in Anderson Family Cemetery. Rhea and Elsie had 10 children:
