Newsletter - August 2000
Sunday, August 13, 2000: Kelley Sigler will lead us in an exercise in "Communicating Feelings of Awareness and Values Through Writing." This will not be a lecture or sermon. It will be a do-it-yourself chance for you to learn about yourself through observation and writing. Kelleys writing workshop will be shorter than our usual sermon and discussion, so we definitely plan to go to lunch after the service. Please make plans to join us at the IMPERIAL PALACE for some Chinese food and conversation on this Sunday. Remember: We do not have a service on the 4th Sunday, August 27th. Planning Ahead: Local UU News: We extend our thanks to Dixon Lichtenauer for providing the music for us while Sylvia DeVoss was enjoying the cool breezes in Canada. Also, our thanks to Ann Staples for providing us with some new hymnals. An interesting e-mail arrived from a Rev. Douglas Morgan Strong minister of a UU church in Plano. Seems hes on vacation and someone has been calling various UU churches in TX to say that the Rev. Strong is trying to help a homeless man with AIDS. Rev. Strong says its a scamsend no money. Very clever these con guys! Community News: The genome discoveries have opened new
worlds for all of us. Most UUs are intrigued with
new scientific findings as was Sir Isaac Newton. He said:
