Newsletter - September 2000

Meetings are held: 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month
10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Huntsville Memorial Hospital

Sunday, September 10th:

This is our LOYALTY SUNDAY. We ask each of you to bring a friend to our service on this day. Dr. Schulman will be back from his trip to Transylvania with interesting stories of his meeting with Unitarians there as well as a sermon. The topic of the sermon will be "Jacob and the Angel." We’ll explore in detail this story that says that "life is fundamentally a struggle with God."

Sunday, September 24th:

Paul Culp will speak to us on"The History of Organized Religion in Huntsville and Walker County." This topic should interest newcomers as well as old-timers in this area.

Community News:

Our own Mada G. Williamson had her 91st birthday on August 21st. Mada G. is Stuart Williamson’s mother and was our Music Director for 12 years. Her family gathered around the piano at the Ella Smither Nursing Home last weekend to celebrate.

There will be music on the grounds of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum on the 4th Saturday of each month. The program starts with a jam session for anyone wanting to participate. This starts at 4 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. There will be all kinds of "folk" music: bluegrass, old time, Celtic, blues, etc. This is a free concert, but donations will be appreciated. This is a great idea for our town, so let’s make an effort to support this endeavor. For more information: or 936 295-7824.

The Blood Bank still needs you! The blood drive will be held September 9th in the Community Room in West Hill Mall.
