Huntsville UU Services
During the summer months of June, July, and August, services are held only on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Sun. June 12: Dr. Schulman's sermon will be "Combatting Loneliness."

Everyone knows the problem of loneliness. People join clubs and get married to avoid loneliness. Genesis tells us that God said, "It is not good that man should be alone." Loneliness was the first thing God's eye saw that was named not good.

What can religion do to help us?

Huntsville UU Women
Wed. June 1: The UU Women's Sharing Circle will meet at 11:30 for lunch at Cloud Nine (Health and Energy).

Wed. June 8: The UU Women will join the Red Hat Society for lunch at the Farris Chapel UMC, 1651 FM 1791 (Richards Road). Each member will bring a dish to share that starts with the first letter of her first name. We will meet around 11:00 a.m. For more specific directions, contact Roberta Krock.

Annual Picnic
June 6: Ted and Jean Back will host our annual picnic on Saturday, June 11. Plan to arrive around 5:30 and bring food to share.

Circle Dinners
Membership Chair Joan Stringer will be organizing "Circle Dinners" on a monthly basis beginning in July. The congregational picnic is already scheduled for June. There will be a signup sheet at church with a heading for hosts and those wishing to attend the dinners. The dinners will be held on the third weekend of each month. The hosts will decide if they will host on Fri, Sat, or Sunday of that weekend. Joan will assign guests from the signup lists and tell the hosts who their guests will be for that month. The hosts will provide the entrée and then call their guests to invite them and discuss what each guest is to bring.

Each month, the hosts and guest lists will change so that you probably will not be with the same group of people in two consecutive months.

This is strictly voluntary and a good way for folks to get together for a fun evening. There is no agenda other than to enjoy each other's company. The hosts can feel free to invite neighbors or friends and especially prospective or new UU members.

When assigning the guests, only a total of eight will be used unless the host indicates otherwise. If there are questions, please call Joan Stringer at 291-6009.

Other
The Children's Theatre Festival's production of The Odyssey sponsored by the SHSU Department of Theatre and Dance and by the Huntsville Arts Commission will be 7:00 p.m., June 22, 23, and 24, at SHSU Theatre's mainstage. Alexander Norman, son of Anne True and Rick Norman, will be playing the role of Antinious (one of Penelope's suitors). See Anne or Rick for complimentary tickets or pay $5 at the door.

Thank you to Thomas and Carla McAdams for providing the cookies on June 12th.
