"One's dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it cannot be taken away unless it is surrendered." --Michael J. Fox, Actor

Huntsville UU Services
Services are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Laura Chapel of Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Visitors are always welcome. For more information, call 295-3170.

Sun. May 13: Our speakers will be Brother A. Muhammad-Bey and two others from the local Islamic group. They plan to speak on "Interfaith Dialogue" and care and compassion from the Qur'an. One of our guest speakers recently spoke at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Tyler, Texas.

Sun. May 27: Our minister, the Reverend Tom Capo, will speak on "A Feminist Spirituality".

He comments, "I will be looking at theology and spirituality from a feminist perspective. When I say this, I mean from a feminine understanding of faith and belief. Most theology written before the 20th century was written by men, thus a very masculine point of view. Only in the 20th and 21st centuries do we have women theological writers with a new, fresh perspective on their answers to life's ultimate questions.”

UU Book Club
Sunday evening, April 29: Our Unitarian Universalist Book Club meets at the home of Anne & Kelley Sigler. Call the Siglers at 295-8810. Beth Williamson will review The End of Faith: Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason by Sam Harris. Having read the book is not a requirement for this event.

Huntsville UU Women
Wed. May 2: The Women’s Sharing Circle will meet this month at 11:00 a.m. at the home of Brenda Barr in Elkins Lake. We are hoping to watch the video of The Secret, a book and video recently discussed on Oprah's show.

Annual Meeting
Sunday afternoon, May 6, 4:00: The annual meeting of the Huntsville Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be held at the home of Thomas & Carla McAdams. Please bring a dish to share for the potluck supper to follow the meeting. You should also bring a lawn chair or two. We will have an election of officers at this meeting and also set our budget for the coming church year. The nominating committee has met and this is the slate they selected:
President: Mardi Sales
Vice President for Programs: Beth Williamson
Secretary: Mary Welborn
Treasurer: Richard Lane

Survey on Shared Values
At our meeting on April 22, all those present participated in an exercise to determine our Congregational Shared Values. We circled words we felt represented our shared values and then our sheets were tallied to see what words we agreed on. Our five shared values for the congregation are: Knowledge, Community, Tolerance, Acceptance, and Caring.
