IOGRAPHY: Othonial Barnes was born 22 Feb 1791 in Maryland. In the 1810 Census his is listed in Garden Twp. PA. He was in Fayette County, PA when he enlisted in the War of 1812 on 27 Aug 1812. He was discharged 26 Aug 1813 in Oswego, NY. He applied for and was given a Bounty Land Grant in Jackson County in November 1850. On 12 Aug 1871, he applied for a was granted a pension for his military service. He got $8.00 per month. Otho Barnes married Catherine (Fitzpatric)(Martin), (There may be some confusion on last name, some sources report Martin other Fitzpatric. Could she have been married before and one of these being her married name?), 7 Oct 1822 in Columbiana Co., Ohio. She was born 20 Dec 1800 and died 10 May 1881. Otho Barnes died 24 Jul 1874. They are both buried in Lincoln Cemetery, Milton Twp., Jackson Co., Ohio. They had the following children all born before they came to Jackson County. James Barnes, b. 26 Jan 1824, married (1) Jerusha Green, (2) Mary Huston. He died Jan 1892. Ravenna Barnes, b. 1825, married Stephen Stull, died December 1849. Eliza Barnes, b. 4 Sep 1828, married William Lewis, 12 Sep 1850, died 20 Sep 1903. Sara Barnes, b. 1 Feb 1830, married Jacob Martin 15 Apr 1853, died 1 Jun 1902. Rachel Barnes, b. 24 Mar 1832, married Joseph Cooper, 21 Jul 1853, died 1 Jun 1902. Jeremiah Barnes, b. 24 Dec 1834, married Lydia Anderson, died 6 Feb 1918. He was a Civil War Veteran. BIRTH: Montgomery Co., was given as the birth place of Othenial in an email from Tracy Newman. (28 April 2002). We differ on the birth date though, she said that she got the date of 22 Feb 1788 not 1791 from another family member.
