Leona's
Magic Garden
by James Ebb Huggins, Jr.
Leona has a magic
garden, down New Orleans way.
She nurtures it with loving care - each and every day.
Flowers, shrubs and tropical plants - grow in just the right spot
To permit one to observe a place on earth - that God has not forgot.
We visited Leona's
magic garden - just a short while ago,
And She was pleased to have us - much hospitality to show.
We discussed old times as well as new - the magic garden we did admire,
And found that days went by too fast - our time with her soon to
expire.
Before we departed we
made one last trip - to the magic garden we did
go
To see Leona unearth some plants - and carefully prepare them so
We might carry them with us- to lay them in His sweet earth,
Leona's magic garden to always be near - a place for healing and
rebirth.
There was a question
whether the plants would fit - in our small SUV,
But Leona continued to bring the gifts - with an abundance of
confidence
to see.
She said, "On yea of little faith." - As she adjusted and squeezed them
in the back,
And finally got them all settled in - and gave her hands a whack.
The magic garden
plants are secure now - in our back yard flower bed,
And one might question why "magic" - is so often heard to be
said.
There is nothing magic about plants in a yard - they grow there every
day.
So what is so special about these? - What message do they
have to say?
The garden
represents a person - of a special kind,
Who nurtures all
with love and care - that is hard to find.
Her plants are
given to other - passed on to those who care
About the secrets
revealed in each - the magic of love to share.
