Of Either One
by James Ebb Huggins, Jr.

Some say God places thorns among roses.
Others say He places roses among thorns.
I pray each day, "Thy will be done",
And thank Him for a grace - of either one.

The burden of each is very great.
To deal with only one takes a special trait.
With only a rose - appreciation can be brief,
With only a thorn - the result only grief.

A combination of the two is usually best,
For both provide a challenge - and both a test.
I pray each day, "Thy will be done",
And trust in Him the wisdom -- of either one.
