A Golden Anniversary
by James Ebb Huggins, Jr.

Jo and Bill celebrated a special occasion last night.
Fifty years as one - and all was right.
With family and friends gathered all around.
Happiness and caring was there to be found.

We met at a special place in Jefferson Town
Where historic homes were featured and good food was found.
Fine wine to mellow memories was tasted as we began
An elegant dinner - as fond recollections through our minds ran.

Before dinner was served Bill Jr. gave a fine toast
In  honor of his Parents with great pride he did boast
About how they had shown that with time love continues to grow
And thanked them for the nurturing - that caused many lives to glow.

There was not a dry eye when Bill, Jr. got through
As he pointed out the things Jo and Bill did do
To make others happy - to make them feel glad,
To encourage them to continue on - even when things were sad.

As the evening raced on there was little time to say
How honored we were to set at their table that day
To witness the results of many years of love
And a Golden Anniversary - architectured by God above.
