“Connecting the Eras”

“Connecting the Eras” is a collaborative land art piece. It was designed and built using the waddle and daub process by the CabrilloARTS Workshop led by John Hylton during the Summer of 2009. The structure’s footprint, shape, orientation and location relate to specific botanical and topographical characteristics of the site.

The building was constructed in the spirit and tradition of ancestral civilizations and incorporates a structural framework of bent and woven tree braches covered with mud made from local pond dirt and straw. The sealant is a pigmented lime wash. The colored windows or lights are fused glass shapes created by the class.
