301 CARD TABLES
301 card tables have golden finish wood tops measuring about 31”
square. The sides, legs and undersides
are painted beige. Unlike a
featherweight table, the aprons bevel inward slightly, and the legs angle
slightly outward. The machine itself
rests on the lip of the opening once the insert is removed. These tables do not have metal brackets to
cradle the machine, as a featherweight table does.

301 LONGBED TABLE: Opening measures 7” x
19-1/4”. Note the slight inward angle on
the apron.

301 SHORTBED TABLE: Rectangular opening measures 7” x 16-1/2”, with an extra little
jut on the right front corner. This
extra opening accommodates the “double plug” set up of cabinet-ready machines,
such as the shortbed 301. These tables
are often found with Singer 401 machines, and it is not clear whether they
originated for the 301, or for later slant needle models. This particular table was found with a 401,
and had substantial water damage around the edges. It is “in progress” for cleaning and refinishing, thus the severe
discoloration.
