Our History
JRF's history goes back to 1976 with the construction and programming of an RCA microprocessor based computer with 256 bytes of RAM and a set of 8 switches as the data input device. This is the microprocessor that controls the two Voyager spacecraft that are still flying beyond our solar system. JRF software was first used in production in 1980 to assist technicians in the repair of disk drives. The years 1976 through 1986 saw JRF in computer manufacturing test engineering and in university and commercial based field service engineering. In 1985 JRF software gave a startup wine distributor a real business advantage by providing the capability for timely inventory processing and sales analysis. From 1986 through 1996 JRF provided hardware and software service to hundreds of customers through the JRF factory authorized service center. JRF also developed software for, among others:- the retail point-of-sale market
- a multi-million dollar pottery manufacturer
- a workmen's compensation claim processing operation
- a state developmental services operation
- a boat & RV dealer parts & service department
The year 1996 saw the beginning of web-based systems by JRF. Using only a Pentium 75 based PC with 32 Meg. RAM as the web server and a 486-33 computer with 8 Meg. RAM as the batch database processing machine, JRF created, as phase 1 of the project, a warehouse reporting system combining data from an old IBM System 36 and a Sperry Unix box to allow, for the first time, up-to-date reporting of stock levels over the Internet. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget and surpassed all expectations.
JRF completed phase 2, which involved creation of an on-line order entry system supporting hundreds of users and, in 1999, phase 3, which provided for the development of on-line, real time AS400 & SQL Server connnectivity for the order processing and reporting system. It also provided multiple special processing modules to automate various manual data processing procedures involving users from different geographic areas.
JRF has developed the networking needed by the above systems and he maintains networks and web sites. JRF offers networking, website creation and hosting for data-centric and e-business type sites and offers various "bolt-on" services to bring intelligence to static web sites.
