Biography of Randy's Rangers
Sigi Field - double bass
Sigi, a native of Germany, learned that Western music, i.e, Texas Swing, Bluegrass, Country & Western is as heartwarming as any German Volksmusik would be. Sigi's music background dates back to her German education where Music and The Arts is a mandatory subject, thus she had to learn to read music, play the recorder and sing. Thirty years later, through her younger son's involvement in music, she also learned to tinker with the piano. That's as far as it went--tinker. In November 2002 Jon, her hubby (see below), started to play Bluegrass and since the Bass was hanging around the house, she picked it up and asked Jon to teach her. The rest is obvious--Sigi is hooked on Bluegrass and Texas Swing. Together with Jon she joins in on many area jams, makes new friends and looks forward to meeting many more.
Jon (aka Randy) Field - guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass and vocals
Jon, a native Austinite, played first chair "violin" as a child. Later in his life, he learned to play the guitar and bass. He played bass in a few bands and also was the soundman for many. Jon discovered bluegrass after many years of his bass fiddle leaning idle against the wall in the corner of the living room. His "violin" was more of a decoration to Sigi, his wife, than being considered to be played. However, as Bob Wills' song goes: "Time changes everything....." and indeed it did. Jon's enthusiasm inspired him to start The Georgetown Bluegrass Jam on the Square in November of 2002.

In July 2005, Jon attended the Randy Elmore Texas Swing Fiddle Camp and met Greats such as Johnny Gimble, Wes Westmoreland and others. Jon added Texas Swing and Country & Western to the genre of Randy's Rangers performances. No doubt, Jon's music comes from the heart which is evident in his singing and instrumental performance.
