PORTRAITS

“DEVIL ANSE HATFIELD”

Acrylic on canvas 24” x 36”

Welcome to my art page.  I have been painting for 40+ years and have literally thousands of paintings to my credit.  I have received many corporate commissions including retiring company executives, attorneys, judges and portraits of just plain working people (such as myself).  There is no better honor to bestow upon a person than to present them with a formal canvas painting commemorating their accomplishments.  They make excellent gifts for those who have everything and are hard to buy for.  I have had literally hundreds of people tell me that a portrait of their children, or grand children, was the best gift they had ever received.  The same can be said of paintings other than portraits.  They become heirlooms and can be passed down through generations.  I have a variety of choices in portraits ranging from $100. to $5,000+.  I am a professional, no-nonsense, artist and I will guarantee an exact likeness with you having the right to rejection if you are not fully satisfied.  Thank you for viewing this sampling of my artwork, and remember:

“BUFFALO CREEK SURVIVORS”

THE EYES SAY IT ALL… The painting at left depicts Mrs. Alice Jacobs (then 71) comforting her great-grand daughter, Rhonda Hoosier shortly after the Buffalo Creek Flood Disaster took the lives of more than 125 people on February 26, 1972, in Logan County West Virginia .  Rhonda’s grandmother perished in the flood.

This painting was donated to the Logan County Chamber of Commerce who, in turn, donated it to the BUFFALO CREEK MEMORIAL LIBRARY in Man, West Virginia.  The painting was unveiled at a memorial service on February 26, 2008, the 36th anniversary of the disaster.  The families of many of the victims attended the moving service.

Although Mrs. Jacobs has long-since passed on, little Rhonda is now 40 and has 2 daughters of her own.  The artist had the opportunity to meet Rhonda’s relatives, including her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and her sister at the momentous occasion.  The painting will hang permanently in the Library to commemorate the victims of this tragic disaster.
