Welcome to my art page.  I have been painting for 40+ years and have literally thousands of paintings to my credit.  I have received many corporate commissions including retiring company executives, attorneys, judges and portraits of just plain working people (such as myself).  There is no better honor to bestow upon a person than to present them with a formal canvas painting commemorating their life and accomplishments.  They make excellent gifts for those who have everything and are hard to buy for.  I have had literally hundreds of people tell me that a portrait of their children, or grand children, was the best gift they had ever received.  The same can be said of paintings other than portraits.  They become heirlooms and can be passed down through generations.  I have a variety of choices in portraits ranging from $100. to $5,000+.  I am a professional, no-nonsense, artist and I will guarantee an exact likeness with you having the right to rejection if you are not fully satisfied.  Thank you for viewing this sampling of my artwork, and remember:

“BUFFALO CREEK SURVIVORS”

THE EYES SAY IT ALL… The painting above depicts Mrs. Alice Jacobs (then 71) comforting her great-grand daughter, Rhonda Hoosier, shortly after the Buffalo Creek Flood Disaster took the lives of more than 125 people on February 26, 1972, in Logan County West Virginia .  Rhonda’s grandmother perished in the flood.

This painting was donated to the Logan County Chamber of Commerce who, in turn, donated it to the BUFFALO CREEK MEMORIAL LIBRARY in Man, West Virginia.  The painting was unveiled at a memorial service on February 26, 2008, the 36th anniversary of the disaster.

WATERCOLORS

Watercolors are the most “unforgiving” of all mediums.  A mistake in oils or acrylics can be scraped off, painted over, etc.  Not so with watercolors.  One mistake and throw it away and start over .

They are in great demand and sell nearly as fast as time can be found to produce them.   —J.R. Shuck

PENCIL PORTRAITS

Pencil Portraits are the most affordable works of art that I create.  They make the perfect gift for any and all occasions.  They are framed  under glass and professionally matted.  My clients are constantly telling me how much they love their pencil portraits—even years after receiving them.  Next time you are in a predicament trying to figure just the right gift to give someone, consider having their portrait done.  I can assure you that they will be flattered and thrilled.  —J.
