Let Freedom Sing!: Get Your Rights, Jack

One of my student's favorite songs out of the book is a rendition of Ray Charles' hit song, written by Percy Mayfield, "Hit the Road, Jack". The words were changed in order to make it relevant to the situation in which the song was used during the Civil Rights Movement and now acts as a most wonderful medium in preserving historical information. When we sing information, it is internalized in a more powerful way and is a wonderful way to have permanent recall.

Music is powerful, Music is infectious, Music teaches, Music heals. Music.
