Robert was born in Madigan General Hospital at Fort Lewis (near Tacoma, Washington) on January 4, 1951. That was just ten days before his father shipped out for Korea. When he was ten days old, he took his first airplane ride, flying from Tacoma to Abilene, Texas. There he lived with his mother and grandparents for the next fifteen months until dad returned home and was discharged from the army.
From there, he lived in Crane, Grandfalls, Rising Star, Abilene and Amherst, Texas. Moving to Washington state when he was six years old, he attended schools in Quincy, Ephrata and Moses Lake. His final high school year was spent in IloIlo City, Philippines, as well as a couple of years of college. The family did mission work there between the years of 1968 and 1971.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 1971, Robert moved out on his own and got a job in the Dallas area. He soon married Patricia Costlow, and to that union was born three daughters: Nikki Michelle, Laura Anne and Alexia Dawn.
Robert was married Linda Mitchell in 1994.
During most of Robert's working years he has worked in water departments and in water testing. For a few years he was the head of the water department and sort of city manager for the town of New London in East Texas. Late in 1997 he went to work with the city of Palestine, Texas in the water department there. He has recently been promoted to Interim Utilities Director for the city of Palestine.
