Mack named secretary, general counsel of R&T

  The Des Moines Register and Tribune Company announced the appointment Wednesday of Barbara Mack, 29 as its secretary and general council, succeeding Gary Gerlach, who was recently named publisher.
  Mack, who began working at the newspapers as a copy courier when she was 16, also has been a reporter. She has been a company lawyer since receiving her law degree from Drake University in 1978.
