23. Mark Lawrence Mack was born on 1 April 1895 in Viola, Mercer County, IL. OR Death Index 1903-98 He died have death cert., on 11 March 1952 at VA Domiciliary in Camp White, Jackson County, OR. He was buried in Red Bluff, Tehama County, CA. 530-16-0362, res: Sparks, NV (Reno) Mark was a Gambler. He was Catholic. He served in the military in the U.S. Army. He served in World War I. Mark served in the Rainbow Division during World War I. He left his wife in 1925. Alta ("Betty") died in 1933. Anita and Ruth ("Peg") were adoped in 1933 by Gaile and Pearle Cook of Creston.

"Mark Mack left my mother before Peg was born. He went west to Durango, CO and married a waitress. Eileen was born a Mack & married Earl Hatfield. Her son, Dannye was by her first husband. Her sister was married to her second husband, pregnant and cleaning a gun when it discharged and killed her. The sister had a daughter, Judy, who was killed in an auto accident. Mark Mack gambled in Reno, Nevada 4 years. The last I knew Eileen lived in Citrus Heights, CA and Mark was with her when he died. Eileen and I were put in contact with one another when the government was locating Mark's heirs to divide a pension he was due from fighting in World War I." (Anita Webb, Aug 1992)
