| Mary "Aunt Soph" Allison
Mary Ann "Aunt Soph" Allison, 74, of Edgington, died Sunday,
Jan. 9, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home,
Milan. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation
will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made
to Childrens Therapy of the Quad Cities or to the family.
Mary Ann was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Cable, Ill., a daughter of
Harry ``Pat'' Dawson and Bernice McCaw Dawson. She married Harry L.
Allison on June 18, 1949. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1997.
Prior to her retirement, Mary Ann worked at Kmart in Rock Island
for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and
crocheting afghans for friends and family.
Survivors (and spouses) are her son, Steve (Tiff) Allison,
Wellsville, Utah; daughters, Sally Meincke and Rhonda Sipes, both of
Rock Island; stepdaughter, Sheila Allison, Muscatine; grandchildren,
Jenna, Bryce, Trae, and Kady Allison, Roger Hills, Valerie David, Kelly
(Dustin) Mooney, Tara (Rob) Hesse, Megan Morris, and Jessica Sipes;
seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Shirley (Herb) Bivens,
Aledo, Linda Nichols, Rock Island, Patty (Lawrence) Logston, Cable,
Terry (Artie) Dawson, Granbury, Tex., Raymond (Jeanette) Dawson,
Reynolds, Bill (Bobbie) Dawson, Lake Havasu, Ariz., Dean (Betty) Dawson,
Cable, and Mike Dawson, Savannah, Ga.; several nieces and nephews and
other relatives; and special friends, Pat and Jim McManus, Edgington.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son,
Harry ``Broth'' Allison, two sisters, and two brothers.
