Edgar Anderson

  Edgar Howard Anderson, 85, of Moline, died Saturdy, April 30, 2005, at his residence.
  Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3205-60th St., Moline. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a wake service at 5 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Jacksonville, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 2642 E. 21st Street, Suite No. 100, Tulsa, OK. 74114 or to Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.
  Howard was born May 1, 1919, in Virginia, Ill., the only child of Edgar and Nola Patricia Barron Anderson. He married Orieda Horn Aug. 16, 1943, in Pryor, OK.
  Howard graduated from Routt High School in 1936. He then graduated from Notre Dame in 1940 with a B.S. in chemical engineering. He worked for the DuPont Company and was assigned to the Manhattan Project which developed the atomic bomb. Following the war, he farmed in Concord, Ill., for 12 years. He returned to industrial employment in 1958, working for the Clinton Corn Processing Company in Clinton, Iowa, for 25 years, and at the Rock Island Arsenal for five years.
  Howard was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Clinton Engineering Club. He loved music and traveling in his motor home.
  Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Orieda Anderson; children, John Howard (Mary Ann) Anderson, Tulsa, Okla., Judith Ann (Richard E.) Franing, Moline, Orien Edgar (Elizabeth) Anderson, Concord, Ill., Thomas Robert (Lucinda) Anderson, Delphi, Ind.; special daughter, Dorothy Surratt and family, Concord; 12 grandchildren, John Joseph, John Christopher, John Michael Anderson, Mary Jolene Johnson, Sara Renee and David Richard Franing, Rebecca Ruth and Jane Ellen Anderson, Martha Jane Long, Benjamin Thomas, Samuel Herbert and Lily Anne Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Emily Lynn and Josiah Michael Anderson; brother-in-law, John Horn, Bartlesville, Okla.
