G. C. "Connie" Andrews

G. C. "Connie" Andrews, 74, of Geneseo, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at his residence after a long illness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Henry County Humane Society-Geneseo.
Connie was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Moline, the son of George and Hazel Warren Andrews, who lived in Rock Island. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.
He was employed by John Deere in the photo lab for nine years, then as senior audio-visual specialist for 20 years. He retired in 1986.
During his life, he was a member of the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society board, Moline American Legion Post 246 and the Izaak Walton League. He organized and started the Curious Collectors Club. Connie enjoyed listening to jazz music (especially Bix), fishing, playing cards with family and friends, vacationing to Hawaii, gardening and cooking. He will be remembered by many for his delicious chili and spaghetti sauce, special Christmas tapes and sharing vegetables from his garden.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughter, Connie Lynn Gaguski, Lawrenceville, Ga.; son, Mark Andrews, Davenport; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jody Andrews, Riverdale; stepdaughter and her husband, Sheila Rene Cook and Brian, Elizabeth, Colo.; grandchildren, Sarah and Elizabeth Dau, Kayla Andrews, Blake and Allison Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Doud Venable, and his wife, Jeanne St. John-Andrews.
He will be missed by many, including his five cats. Special thanks to our caring family members, neighbors, friends, Option Care and Trinity Pathway Hospice for all their prayers, support, assistance, cards and phone calls.
